Privacy Policy

1. Who is responsible

Philipp Löschner
Email: [email protected]

2. What data we store

This app stores the following data on your device and in our database:

  • Your chosen username
  • Optional: email address and encrypted password (if you register)
  • Your dog's name, size, and photo
  • Records of walks (time, duration, route, details)
  • Reactions to walks (likes)
  • Group code for shared use
  • Push notification token (if you enable notifications)
  • Optional: screenshots and error descriptions (if you report bugs)

The app collects no location data — neither GPS, IP-based localization, nor any other automatic tracking methods are used. The app does not request location permissions. Walk routes are freely chosen text labels that you assign yourself.

3. Why we process data

The data is used for the following purposes:

  • Coordinating dog walks within your group
  • Notifications about upcoming and completed walks
  • Reviewing content to keep the app safe for everyone (content moderation)
  • Optional: multi-device access via email login
  • Optional: bug fixing through bug reports

The legal basis is the provision of app features (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR). For optional features such as push notifications, your consent applies (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR). Content review is necessary to keep the app safe for everyone (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).

4. Data processing within groups

The app works through groups centered around a dog. Within a group, all members can see shared data (walks, dog profiles, usernames). Outside your group, your data is not visible.

The dog owner (the person who added the dog in the app) manages the group and decides who gets access. They can view and, within the scope of app features, edit or delete content submitted by group members.

We are responsible for data protection within the app — not the dog owner. They only decide who joins the group and can manage entries.

5. Where data is stored

Database & backend: Supabase Inc. (USA) with data storage on EU servers — stores your group and walk data. Data transfer to the USA is based on EU Standard Contractual Clauses.

Hosting: Cloudflare Inc. (USA) — delivers the web app and landing page. Technical access data (e.g. IP address) is processed. Data transfer is based on EU Standard Contractual Clauses.

Fonts: Google Fonts (Google LLC, USA) — when the app loads, a font is retrieved from Google servers. Your IP address is transmitted to Google. Data transfer is based on EU Standard Contractual Clauses.

Email delivery: Certified email provider in Germany (ISO/IEC 27001:2013) — sends emails for registration, password reset, and verification.

Push notifications: Firebase Cloud Messaging (Google LLC, USA) — manages notifications on your device. Data transfer is based on EU Standard Contractual Clauses.

Local storage: Your session is stored encrypted in secure device storage.

Beyond this, your data is not shared with third parties.

6. External links

The app may link to external pages (e.g. donation campaigns, recommendations). When you tap such a link, you leave the app. The privacy practices of the linked page are the responsibility of that provider, not us.

7. Storage on your device

Native app (Android/iOS): Your session data is stored encrypted in secure device storage.

Web version: Uses only technically necessary local storage for session data.

No tracking cookies or analytics tools are used.

8. How long we store data

Your data is stored as long as you actively use the app. Inactive data is regularly deleted automatically — for example, anonymous accounts after extended inactivity or dog profiles without any logged walks.

The currently applicable deletion periods can be found in the app's help section (FAQ). A single walk logged within the relevant period prevents deletion.

Before any automatic deletion, a technical backup is created and retained for a maximum of 90 days. After that, the backups are also permanently deleted.

Registered accounts with a verified email address are exempt from automatic deletion.

9. Your rights

You have the right to access your stored data, and to request correction, deletion, and data portability. You can delete your account at any time within the app under "My Account". For questions, please contact the responsible party.

You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority.
